Steps In Arranging a Funeral

Planning a funeral can be daunting and unsettling. The sudden unexpected or expected death of a loved one can be overwhelming especially for those making the decisions and preparations for the funeral of the deceased. Here below are the steps to take when a loved one has suddenly passed.

1.When one has suddenly passed away at home either call an ambulance or doctor. They will verify the death and provide you with an Extinction of life Certificate. If your loved one has passed away in a hospital or age care home they also will be in contact with a doctor and the Next of Kin. An Extinction of life certificate will also be provided.

2.Once this has happened, contact us at John Oxley Funerals and we will straight away gather and receive wherever the deceased is being held along with (Extinction of life Certificate) into our care. Next, we will be in contact with the Doctor to obtain the Cause of Death Certificate for the funeral cannot progress without this.

3.John Oxley Funeral directors will then call to arrange to meet with you at home if you prefer or at our office to discuss all relevant information required for register and lodgement of death certificate with (Births Deaths and Marriages). Including other legal forms of documentation and certificates required for a Cremation or Burial.

4.Either during this time or a preferred second meeting we can discuss your thoughts and needs on what type of funeral you prefer to honour the memories of your loved one, whether it be burial or cremation. Here, we can talk about our optional funeral packages, type of flower arrangements, eulogy, venues etc that you feel would be most fitting.

Remember we value and validate your grief and dispair at such a time, with our compassion and care. That is our commitment to you.
